BULK LOAD - worked, but with this error msg - meaning?

Hi,
My bulk load worked, however, I had some messages returned. Just
wondering what they mean? Thanks
This is my Bulk Insert stmt:
BULK INSERT dbo.[Table_Load] FROM 'c:\admin\myFile.txt' WITH
(FIELDTERMINATOR='\t',ROWTERMINATOR='\n',CODEPAGE = 'OEM',FIRSTROW=2)
These are the messages returned:
Bulk load: DataFileType was incorrectly specified as char. DataFileType
will be assumed to be widechar because the data file has a Unicode
signature.
Bulk load: DataFileType was incorrectly specified as char. DataFileType
will be assumed to be widechar because the data file has a Unicode
signature.

Hi
If you don't specify a DATAFILETYPE then 'char' is assumed and it looks like
you have a unicode file, therefore you should specify 'widechar'. Lookup BULK
INSERT in Books Online for more information.

Bulk Insert ZERO rows returned...

I have poured thru notes, sites, etc. and can't seem to figure what I might be doing wrong - which most likely is something very easy.

BULK INSERT

dbo.tbCheckpoint

FROM 'c:\inetpub\wwwroot\upload\maxie_task_aging.csv'

WITH

( DATAFILETYPE = 'char', FIELDTERMINATOR = ', ',

FIRSTROW = 3, KEEPNULLS, ROWTERMINATOR = '\t\n')

I am doing a bulk insert where I am pulling from .csv but the msg I get when running it is

(0 row(s) affected)

There is data in the file, it starts on the 3rd row and terminators are set correctly.

Any thoughts?

Moving to the transact-SQL forum.|||Have you checked to see if the .csv file ends with a carriage return/line feed? I have seen cases where the insert would fail because the csv, as a whole, was not terminated properly. It's definitely worth a "look see", so to speak. If the file is missing a carriage return, add it, then try the import again.|||Thanks! That was it.

Build fails but no errors are returned

hi,

I moved my ssis solution from on dev machine to another.

When building the solution, visual studio keeps saying that the build failed but no errors are returned which is not really helpful...

any clues would be appreciated.

thanks

I don't believe you need to "build" anything.|||

well, the solution is built before starting the debugger process...

anyway, I've sorted my problem... errors where not displayed in the error list but I've found one returned in the output window.

It was complaining that it could not load the project files (note that I had no errors while loading the solution in VS).

I've deleted the .suo and other user files from the solution and it now works... did not realise that project file paths informations could be in the user files... I was expecting this information to be specific to solution and project files ...

|||I set my projects to never build under Tools-Options. Never had a problem.
